Saudi National Day festivitie­s lined up in Dubai, Abu Dhabi

Airports to roll out red carpet for Saudis today while fireworks displays will be held on Sunday

The UAE will celebrate Saudi Arabia’s 88th National Day on September 23 with a line-up of events in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

To begin with, visitors from Saudi Arabia will today be welcomed with sweets, flowers and coffee at Dubai Internatio­nal Airport while at Abu Dhabi Internatio­nal Airport, Saudi nationals/Saudi passport-holders will receive compliment­ary luxury dining vouchers. Harbiya cultural dancers will also greet Saudi visitors today.

The Dubai events will include a concert by regional stars and a fireworks show at La Mer. Dubai residents can expect to see the Burj Khalifa illuminate­d with the national flag of Saudi Arabia.

The Department of Culture and Tourism-Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) has organised a fireworks display on the corniche at 9pm on September 23, with more than 8,000 fireworks designed to feature the colours of the Saudi flag. This will complement a separate show at Yas Marina at 8pm.

There will also be greentheme­d fireworks at Yas Marina at 8pm on September 23.
