Woman on trial for threatening ex-husband
Awoman has been accused of threatening to destroy the roastery of her former husband if he did not return her passport, a court heard on Thursday.
The 43-year-old Syrian roastery owner was said to have been called by his 28-year-old countrywoman and his former wife, when he was in his shop in March. Once the former husband responded, he was told over the phone, according to records, that she would destroy his shop if he did not hand back her passport. Prosecutors have accused the Syrian woman of verbally threatening to wreck her divorcee’s shop. One of the friends of the Syrian man told prosecutors that he had overheard the suspect threatening to wreck the roastery.
The suspect pleaded not guilty before the Dubai Court of First Instance.
A ruling will be heard on October 8.
