A human catastrophe

In the past few months, the world has seen many natural disasters (“Hong Kong on lockdown as Typhoon Mangkhut arrives”, Gulf News, September 17). Whether it was the floods in Kerala or the current typhoon in Hong Kong and China, I think our planet is trying to send us a message. We have cut trees, killed animals and are responsible for most of the destruction taking place. We need to try and reduce our plastic consumption and carbon footprint. At this rate the planet will completely perish. We are responsible for this situation and we should try and fix it.
