Video of Hamdan rescuing Oryx trapped in plastic net goes viral

Dubai Crown Prince’s one-minute clip receives 190,732 views in just an hour

An Arabian Oryx, which got its antlers tangled in a constructi­on net, became a social media sensation after Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, came to its rescue.

Shaikh Hamdan posted a one-minute video of the rescue in his official Instagram handle @faz3. The video was posted with the caption: ‘All good to go for this Oryx! Mission accomplish­ed’. It received 190,732 views in just an hour. The video shows Shaikh Hamdan tranquilis­ing the animal and with the help of a few people and cutting the Oryx free from the mesh of net and plastic, which was covering its eyes. After regaining consciousn­ess, the animal is seen running towards the rest of the herd.
