Kvitova eases past Krunic in China

Kvitova of the Czech Republic defeated Serbia’s Aleksandra Krunic in straight sets yesterday to advance to the third round of the Wuhan Open.

The fifth-seeded Kvitova sealed the match with one of 13 aces she hit on her way to beating the world No. 63 6-3, 6-4.

The Czech exacted some measure of revenge on Krunic, who had won the pair’s only previous meeting. She will face Russia’s Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, who defeated Kiki Bertens of the Netherlands 6-4, 6-2. (IANS)
