Al Jazira kicked off Gameweek 4 in the Arabian Gulf League (AGL) early due to their Arab Club Championship commitments over the coming weekend.

The Pride of Abu Dhabi temporarily moved to the top of the AGL standings, thanks to a crushing 5-1 victory over Ajman at the Rashid Bin Saeed Stadium. Al Jazira regained their winning touch following the 2-2 draw with Bani Yas last weekend and now sit on 10 points from their four games.

Star striker Ali Mabkhout opened the scoring for the visitors after just seven minutes, losing his marker to roll the ball into the net for his sixth goal of the season. Ernest Asante doubled their advantage just before the break when his long-range shot from outside the area found the target and beat Ajman goalkeeper Ali Mohammad Ali. Khalifa Alhammadi, Leonardo Pereira and Khalfan Mubarak put some gloss on the scoreline as they all got on the scoresheet after Ajman’s Vander Viera was sent off after 65 minutes. Adel Hermach scored the consolation for Ajman.

Al Wasl took on Emirates in yesterday’s late game before the rest of the AGL action tomorrow and Friday.
