Dubai Metro stations get defibrillators
Heart defibrillators are being installed at Dubai Metro stations to help trained staff respond to passengers suffering heart attacks, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) said yesterday.
The Rail Agency at RTA said the defib machines are included in new portable emergency response kits.
Defibrillators work by sending electro waves into the body to return the heart to a normal rhythm after a person suffers cardiac arrest.
The device is fitted with a Smart Link Monitoring System and Motion Detection Capabilities that notify Serco’s (Dubai Metro and Tram Operator) Safety Assurance and Environment Department as well as the service provider whether to use or move the device, as needed. Daily reports are also generated.
