Cricket in the spotlight

Though Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli and world champion weightlifter Mirabai Chanu have been recommended for this year’s Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award in Sports, I feel even athlete Hima Das and Jinson Johnson are also eligible for this honour (“Kohli, Chanu nominated for Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna”, Gulf News, September 18). While Kohli did score tons of runs, but as a captain, he did not bring any laurels for the country. Whereas our athletes who took part in the recent Asian Games 2018, were a notch ahead, as they won both gold and silver medals for the country. However, as usual, cricket will take the cake, again!
