1. Fazza to the rescue

An Oryx got his horns caught in some constructi­on net and Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, came to its rescue. On his official Instagram account, Shaikh Hamdan posted a video where he can be seen helping an Oryx that got its antlers tangled in a mesh of net and plastic.

2. Hindu woman beaten up

A video showing a Hindu woman being beaten up by the police for being in the company of a Muslim man caused an uproar on social media. The video was posted by a journalist and received thousands of retweets in a few hours, with tweeps expressing outrage at the fact that the common man was not safe from law enforcemen­t authoritie­s.

3.Pakistani sings Indian anthem

Dubai resident Adil Taj from Pakistan has become an internet sensation overnight when his video singing the Indian national anthem went viral. The 29-year-old was among the thousands of cricket enthusiast­s who attended the Pakistan versus India Asia Cup match at the Dubai Internatio­nal Cricket Stadium. Social media users appreciate­d his enthusiasm.

4. #Why I Didnt Report

The hashtag #Why I Didnt Report trended online with the #MeToo movement that was started last year. Now, people are using the hashtag to highlight the difficulti­es, fear, anger and shame that so often surround sexual harassment and assault. Some survivors also used online platforms to share their experience­s to spread awareness and speak out.

5. Pakistani journalist’s arrest ordered

The Lahore High Court issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against prominent Pakistani journalist Cyril Almeida, and it sparked a conversati­on online about freedom of speech in Pakistan. The reporter had allegation­s of treason and an on-going case against him after he interviewe­d former prime minister Nawaz Sharif in May this year.
