‘Reset phones to factory settings before selling’

The

police yesterday advised people to reset their used phones to factory settings before selling them to avoid misuse by fraudsters.

To prevent misuse of data and pictures, the Abu Dhabi Police said, people must erase the data by restoring the phones to factory settings before selling them online or to shops.

The police also advised people not to rely on mobile shops or outsiders to create data backups for images, personal videos and all private correspondence, which may be abused or used for blackmail. (Staff Report)
