India’s Prithvi, Mayank set for debut against West Indies

Kohli returns to lead team in two-Test series starting on Thursday

Indian captain Virat Kohli is back in the team the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming two-Test home series against the West Indies, which begins on Thursday.

The Indian team, beaten 1-4 in the five-match Test series in England recently, decided to ring in several changes against a modest West Indies side.

Openers Shikhar Dhawan and Murali Vijay were both in terrible form in England and have been dropped, with young Prithvi Shaw and Mayank Agarwal drafted in. Both Prithvi and Mayank are set for debut in the series.

Among the bowlers, Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwa­r Kumar have been given a well-deserved rest after a hectic Asia Cup. The injured duo of Ishant Sharma and Hardik Pandya weren’t considered for selection, while Mohammad Sami and Umesh Yadav have made the cut.
