READERS REACT WITH JOY AS THEIR FAVOURITE NEWSPAPER MARKS ITS 40TH ANNIVERSARY
Gulf News completed 40 years yesterday. That’s four decades of journalistic evolution, which has seen the newspaper transform and innovate from print to a multiplatform news content provider. And our readers are thrilled to be part of that journey.
Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, phone calls and emails were the channels they used to share their joy with us.
Rosemary and George Mundackal, loyal readers for 40 years, spoke to the Social Media team about the significance the newspaper has in their daily lives.
George, 68, said: “The first thing I read in the morning is the Bible, then it’s Gulf News. I read it from front-to-back, and it takes about an hour. It’s been my regular routine for ... years.”
Eappen Elias, who wrote in yesterday, shared a similar sentiment: “Congratulations
Gulf News for 40th anniversary. I have been an ardent fan of Gulf News, and I have been a dedicated reader for the past 28 years. My day begins with Gulf
News, when I manage to spare an hour to read the important news. I end my day reading one of the interesting articles on the Today page.”
For 51-year-old Abu Dhabi resident Adel Arafa, loyalty to the newspaper is more about the way it has covered news. “With
Gulf News’ stories ...I like news that makes a difference to my life – and the newspaper gives me that.”
Meanwhile, social media channels were abuzz with reactions. @NadaAlZarooni tweeted: “Here’s to upholding your [Gulf News] position, values, status and remaining agile throughout the ever-changing and competitive digital age. @gulf_news @AbdulHamidAhmad #GulfNews40 #GulfNews
Tweep Parienda Mehta @parienda posted: “@AbdulHamidAhmad @gulf_news Life begins at 40. Congrats to you and entire team for a good journalism. Thank you for keeping UAE expats connected to their home country news and educating us for world news.
Facebook user Anjum Ahmad posted: “Happy 40th to the best newspaper by far!!!”
