Advisory on electric car registration

- Staff Report

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has alerted all service suppliers, auto agents and technical testing personnel not to register electric vehicles in Dubai’s traffic system unless they are verified by a UAEbased accredited agent.

The move came into effect on October 1.

Abdullah Yousuf Al Ali, CEO of RTA’s Licensing Agency pointed out that such vehicles have highly sensitive electrical and chemical components that pose a risk to users, roads and pedestrians if they are lacking proper quality checks.

RTA is holding training courses in collaboration with accredited auto agents in the UAE, for vehicle examiners, to familiarise them with testing standards.
