SC declines plea for fresh probe in Kathua case
The Supreme Court yesterday dismissed a plea by an accused in the sensational Kathua gang rape and murder of an eight-year-old girl, seeking a fresh investigation on the grounds that the probe was allegedly politically motivated.
The state police’s crime branch, investigating the case, filed charges against seven adults and a juvenile. Two of the accused had, in April, sought the probe to be transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), saying they were “falsely implicated”.
