A new ‘Star Wars’ TV series to introduce The Mandalorian

-

Get ready for The Mandalorian. Jon Favreau has revealed details about his upcoming live-action Star Wars TV series.

“After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe,” said Favreau in an Instagram post. “The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.”

Boba Fett became a fan-favourite Star Wars character after he appeared as Jabba the Hutt’s go-to bounty hunter in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Though presumed dead after falling into a sarlacc pit in the original trilogy, his backstory was explored in the prequel films. In Attack of the Clones, it was revealed that Boba was the clone of his father, Jango Fett, one of the best bounty hunters in the galaxy during that era.

Both Fetts wore Mandalorian armour that set them apart from the other villains in the films. The animated shows introduced more memorable Mandalorians including Sabine Wren from Star Wars Rebels and Duchess Satine Kryze from Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Asa member of the Ghost crew, Sabine was one of the first rebels to stand up against the Empire, while Satine was the leader of Mandalore during the Clone Wars who valued peace and nonviolence.

The show will be available on Disney’s streaming service, set to launch in late 2019.
