Couple names baby girl ‘Sharjah’

ASyrian expat couple has named their newborn baby girl ‘Sharjah’ as a token of appreciati­on and gratitude to Sharjah and the UAE.

Assad Ebrahim Mohammad, the father, told Gulf News: “We are extremely happy to be living such special moments in our lives. We decided to name our baby girl Sharjah as a token of gratitude to the emirate of Sharjah and the UAE. We have lived happily in the UAE for the past 18 years.”

The couple also has a six-year-old boy named Qayser. Baby ‘Sharjah’ was delivered at Al Qasimi Hospital in Sharjah on October 4.

Dr Safia Al Khaja, director of the new Al Qasimi Women’s and Children’s Hospital, said: “We are very proud to witness the birth of Al Qasimi’s first baby.” ■
