The details of the case, according to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB):

Shahbaz Sharif, as chief minister of Punjab province, influenced the Punjab Land Development project (PLDC) board to assign the Ashianai-Iqbal Housing project to the Lahore Development Authority (LDA), which awarded the contract to Lahore Casa developers, resulting in a loss of Rs715 million (Dh21.15 million) and the ultimate failure of the project. Chaudhry Latif & Sons had paid Rs70 million as a mobilisation advance.

The provincial government later had to pay an additional Rs5.9 million to the company due to the illegal suspension of the contract.

Fawad Hasan Fawad, who is also in NAB’s custody in the same housing scam, misused his authority as Sharif’s implementation secretary, enacted illegal steps.

Sharif also faces the music over his awarding of the consultancy services contract for the project to Engineering Consultancy Services Punjab at a cost of Rs192 million, despite the actual cost being Rs35 million as quoted by Nespak, a renowned engineering consultancy.
