Imran mulls protection for witnesses
Prime Minister Imran Khan yesterday, reiterating the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s policy of zero tolerance against corruption and corrupt practices, announced plans to introduce a whistle blower and witness protection act within a week.
The prime minister told journalists no corrupt element would go unpunished.
Had the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) been under his control, he said, at least 50 more corrupt personalities would have landed in jail.
The prime minister strongly rejected claims of victimisation by leaders of the opposition Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz party and said the corruption cases against former chief minister and president of PML-N Shahbaz Sharif had been under investigation for eight months.
