Imran mulls protection for witnesses

Prime Minister Imran Khan yesterday, reiteratin­g the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s policy of zero tolerance against corruption and corrupt practices, announced plans to introduce a whistle blower and witness protection act within a week.

The prime minister told journalist­s no corrupt element would go unpunished.

Had the National Accountabi­lity Bureau (NAB) been under his control, he said, at least 50 more corrupt personalit­ies would have landed in jail.

The prime minister strongly rejected claims of victimisat­ion by leaders of the opposition Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz party and said the corruption cases against former chief minister and president of PML-N Shahbaz Sharif had been under investigat­ion for eight months.
