Officials target air polluters in Lahore

The Punjab Environmen­t Protection Department has sealed 216 smoke-emitting furnaces and other units, after registerin­g 86 First Informatio­n Reports at various police stations during the current year.

Deputy director Misbahul-Haq Khan Lodhi said orders had been issued to all steel-melting furnaces and smoke-emitting factories in various industrial zones of Lahore to control pollution. He said special inspection teams have started checking smoke levels in industrial estates within the nine townships in the city.
