G-Dragon crowned top songwriter

G-Dragon has been named the top K-Pop idol with the most songs copyrighte­d under his name.

On September 30, the ranking from the Korea Music Copyright Associatio­n revealed that G-Dragon, the leader and main rapper of boy band Big Bang, has 172 songs he produced, composed or wrote, accredited to his name.

Ever since Big Bang’s debut in 2006, the star has been heavily involved in the group’s discograph­ies, having written songs such as Lies, Bang Bang Bang, If You, Flower Road, Loser, Fantastic Baby and Haru Haru. G-Dragon has also written and produced songs for other artists such as IU’s Palette, ikon’s I Miss You So Bad, Taeyang’s Ringa Linga, 2NE1’s Good To You as well as his own work beginning with his first debut album Heartbreak­er in 2009 as a soloist.
