A great series

This is with reference to the recently concluded Asia Cup which took place in the UAE (“India lift Asia Cup for seventh time stopping spirited Bangladesh in Dubai”, Gulf News, September 30). What a tournament it was! There were many ups and downs during the matches. The most thrilling was the grand finale. Everybody had expected an India-Pakistan final, but Bangladesh’s entry to the finals was a surprise. What a final it was, Bangladesh gave India a run for their money and they had to really sweat it out to win the final. It was a close call. The stadium was full to its capacity and the atmosphere was thrilling.

I would like to appreciate the efforts and commitment of the authorities to make the tournament a success. Despite the weather being hot, the security personnel were doing their jobs to the best of their ability. Even after the match the authorities and the staff concerned made sure that every body left the stadium safely and without any hassles. Hats off to all the people concerned for organising and making this tournament a great success. I would also like to thank the authorities for giving us a chance to watch an international final in this part of the world.
