5G and Expo 2020

Al Abdouli said Etisalat has demonstrated strong commitment to sustaining technological leadership, by investing in emerging and next-gen technologies. 5G technologies is a prime example, because it is considered a major enabler for the next generation of broadband service and Internet of Things (IoT), which is growing exponentially due to the global adoption of connected devices.

“5G will provide opportunities for economic growth and massive developments in the areas of ICT infrastructure, education, employment, transportation and more,” he said.

A testimony to 5G efforts is Expo 2020, which became the first 5G major customer in the Middle East Africa and South Asia region. The fifth generation network will deliver fast speeds and lower latency, making it a critical building block in UAE’s economic competitiveness.
