Diabetes drug Dialon withdrawn

The Ministry of Health and Prevention issued a circular to medical zones, hospitals and pharmacies to withdraw Dialon 500mg, which is used to treat diabetes, due to its dissolution failure.

Dialon, manufactured by the Gulf Pharmaceutical Industries, Julphar, contains effective substance called Metformin. The drug failed to provide the required solubility as shown by studies.

The decision to withdraw the drug from the UAE market follows an inspection visit carried out by the ministry’s inspectors to Julphar factory.
