Politician’s son pulls out gun at luxury hotel

A case under the Arms Act has been registered against Ashish Pandey

ADelhi Police team left for Lucknow yesterday to detain a former Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Member of Parliament’s son who whipped out a pistol at a luxury hotel during a fight, police said.

Ashish Pandey, son of Rakesh Pandey, got into the fight on the hotel premises on Saturday night, the hotel said in a complaint.

He brandished a gun and threatened a couple outside the hotel premises in the incident, which occurred on Saturday at 3.40am, police said. Later, Ashish’s friends were seen abusing the couple.

“Ashish Pandey does not live in Delhi. He lives in Lucknow. We have sent a team to Lucknow to locate the man,” a police officer said. A case under the Arms Act has been registered against Ashish.

Video footage

A video showing Ashish holding a pistol and grabbing the other man’s collar went viral online.

In the video, Ashish and his friends can be heard abusing a man who used the ladies’ washroom, the police said.

Deputy Commission­er of Police Devender Arya said a complaint was received on Monday from the Assistant Security Manager of Hyatt Regency Hotel in south Delhi.
