The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs Dubai (GDRFA Dubai) will launch the Amer smart app for smartphones, providing the centre’s services at the click of a button.

First Lieutenant Salem Hassan, director of Amer Centres Department in GDRFA Dubai, told Gulf News that the app will be officially launched after Gitex week.

Available on iOS and Android devices, the app will let a customer choose a service, file documents and get a token, after which one can visit an Amer centre and complete the transaction.

Amer centres provide services ranging from entry permits, issuing or renewing residency visas and visa cancellation. There are 53 centres operating in Dubai.

“After the documents are sent, the app will guide the customer to the nearest Amer centre and schedule an appointment so customers can walk in and complete their transactions without having to wait in queues,” First Lt Hassan said.

Customers need to sign in to the app and choose the required service. They can take pictures of their documents and send them through the app. The app will even show a route with the least traffic to a centre.
