SC urges Kalash community’s rights protected

Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar yesterday urged the government to make sure provision of full freedom and protection of fundamental rights of the Kalash community in Chitral is maintained.

The Chief Justice was hearing a case pertaining to illegal encroachments on land belonging to the community by a land-grabber Maqsood Ul Mulk.

He also made a comment against the forceful conversion of Kalash community members, and remarked that “the community should not be forced to convert. It is a matter of basic rights.” (Staff Report)
