Crime gang posts ‘job vacancy’ on Facebook

- BY LATA RANI Correspondent

In a huge embarrassment to the state government, a notorious criminal gang operating in Bihar has posted an open vacancy for jobs on a social networking site, looking for youth who want to join the world of crime

Though the police has ordered an investigation, they are yet to trace the gang.

Authorities were stunned after the gang nicknamed ‘Riders of Patna Night King’ posted a ‘job vacancy’ on Facebook on Sunday seeking youth to join the gang.

In its post, the gang said it is looking for youth who want to commit various types of crime, particularly kidnapping, contract killing and stealing cars or bikes. It also asked the prospective applicants to mention their “areas of interests” while replying to the post.

“Who wants to indulge in illegal acts? Respond if interested,” the gang said in its post.

It added that those joining the gang would have to go through rigorous training first, during which the gang would bear their daily expenses to be incurred on purchasing fuel for vehicles and their repair, arranging for their cell phones and smoking.

Police said eight youth have responded to the job offer saying they are interested in “committing the crime”. “Brother I too want to make money and be infamous like you people,” commented a youth in the Facebook comment box.

He claimed he didn’t fear police and would ‘manage’ the cops if any such situation arose in future.

“The police have taken the matter very seriously and the gang members would be caught very soon,” Patna’s senior superintendent of police Manu Maharaj told the media on Monday.

Of late, youth with criminal bent of mind have turned to social media to highlight their image. Earlier this year, the police arrested two youth after they photographed themselves with a pistol and posted the picture on Facebook.

The accused youth who hailed from Darbhanga district were nabbed in February this year.
