Come November, 150 commercial and residential towers in the UAE a day, or 3,750 buildings a month, will be connected to the Hassantuk smart fire monitoring, alert and control system, a senior official told Gulf News.
Hassantuk is a Ministry of Interior building safety solution protecting lives and properties across the UAE through the Alarm Receiving Centre.
This month, the target is more than 1,600 commercial and residential towers as every day up to 65 towers are being connected to the system.
Last month, 850 buildings were connected to Hassantuk, including 250 towers in Abu Dhabi emirate, including Al Ain and Al Dhafra. Hassantuk doesn’t cover Dubai.
In an exclusive interview with Gulf News, Dr Gordon Head, operations director at Hassantuk in Abu Dhabi, said: “Every day, 60 to 65 commercial and residential towers are connected to Hassantuk’s smart fire alarm system. across the country. We link 350 to 400 towers each week.”
Technical snags fixed
Linking of buildings picked up momentum four weeks ago after surveys, complexities and technical snags in buildings were fixed.
“Hopefully, from next month we are going to increase the output. We have to connect about 175,000 buildings by 2021, in line with the UAE Vision 2021, which aims to make the UAE one of the safest countries in the world,” Dr Head said.
In October last year, the Ministry of Interior represented by the Civil Defence Headquarters, in partnership with Injazat Data Systems, unveiled Hassantuk.
It is the region’s largest automated integrated system for accelerating both emergency responses and building system repairs to ensure 24/7 public safety.
On October 10, the Ministry of Interior officially launched another smart fire safety project for villas called Hassantuk for Villas to provide end-to-end fire safety solutions to every villa in the UAE.
On October 18, an Egyptian man and his two grandchildren died from suffocation after a fire broke out in an apartment in Ajman.
On October 2, eight members of an Emirati family died in a Baniyas villa fire in Abu Dhabi.
In January, seven Emirati children suffocated in a fire in their villa in Rol Dhadna district in Fujairah.
