Issue ignored? While Palestinians have been clashing with the Israeli army on the borders all yesterday, and were injured and killed, Gulf News totally ignored mentioning anything about it in today’s issue [October 20]. To publish such an important event in a small column without a photo on page 12 means that it was totally ignored (‘77 hurt as Israel fires at Gaza protesters’, Gulf News, October 20). I don’t believe that the headlines on page one covering other news were more important. From Ms Samia Nasr UAE
Gulf News has a track record of taking a strong, pro-Palestinian, antiZionist stance in its coverage of the Israel-Palestinian crisis. Our coverage of the news is dictated by events of the day, and available space. The weekly Friday protests in Gaza have been ongoing since the end of March, and we’ve covered it consistently. In the October 21 edition, for instance, we had a page devoted to Palestine. Gulf News Sections combined
We, as a family, are struggling with this new avatar of Gulf News, our preferred and favourite paper of the past decade. The earlier separate sections were happily shared in the morning over a cup of tea and traded with amicability, in a tried and tested routine. And now? Now it’s exclusively the prerogative of the family member who’s the first to get up in the morning! We, the family, implore you to revert to the earlier version. From Mina Dasani
