PM to visit China to boost ties
The two sides will review the entire range of bilateral relations
Prime Minister Imran Khan will pay an official visit to China from November 2 to 5, 2018, on invitation from the Chinese leadership.
This will be his first official visit to China, after assuming office in August 2018. He will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, including the Pakistani Minister of Foreign Affairs. The visit signifies the closeness and traditional warmth which characterises Pakistan-China relations.
According to the Foreign Office statement issued yesterday, Prime Minister Khan will hold meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang.
During the visit, the two sides will review the entire range of bilateral relations which have enjoyed a long history of mutual trust and mutual support. The two sides will also sign several agreement/MoUs of cooperation in diverse fields.
After his Beijing visit, Khan will visit Shanghai to participate in the First China International Import Expo, where Pakistan is exhibiting a wide range of export products.
On the sidelines of the Shanghai Forum, Khan will hold meetings with other world leaders. He will also hold meetings with Chinese financial and corporate sector leaders.
The traditionally close and friendly ties between Pakistan and China are based on shared principles and mutual interests, entailing close cooperation in diverse fields.
Both countries maintain close and regular strategic communication for the promotion of regional peace and stability and economic cooperation. Economic and industrial cooperation between Pakistan and China expanded significantly after the establishment of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. Khan’s visit is expected to provide further impetus to strategic ties and broaden the bilateral partnership.
