Nawaz speaks

Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif yesterday said his party had not sought any National Reconcilia­tion Ordinance (NRO) and urged the government to disclose the names of those who were asking for such a favour.

“Who has sought an NRO. The government should make public the names of the politician­s or the political parties, who have sought the NRO,” addressing journalist­s at the premises of Accountabi­lity Court.

He said it was the most painful time for him when his wife was breathing her last, while he was in jail. He had remained inactive politicall­y since her death, he added.

Nawaz said, being a good friend, Jamiat Ulemae-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman was respectabl­e for him, and his party was an ally of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz. They met on Sunday and he would share the topics of discussion with his party leaders, he added.
