Court suspends transfer of top police official

Supreme Court yesterday suspended the transfer of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Jan Mohammad, till October 31 and sought complete report on the matter.

Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar while hearing another case took suo motu notice regarding the transfer of the IGP and summoned Secretary Interior and AttorneyGeneral to explain the reasons. The Attorney-General told the bench that establishment division passed the transfer orders.

Justice Nisar said the court would not tolerate political meddling in police department.
