Duo hoodwink businessman, swindle Dh1.9m

Two

men have been accused of hoodwinking a businessman and swindling Dh1.9 million in a dodgy deal to sell desalination devices to two government departments.

In 2016, the Italian businessman was introduced to his countryman trader, who offered to win him a Dh455 million tender to sell desalination devices to Dubai government bodies. The trader introduced him to an Emirati employee in this regard.

The businessman paid a commission of Dh1.9 million to him, but the purchase receipts turned out to be forged. (Staff Report)
