Sania and Shoaib welcome son

Tennis player is doing well after birth, cricketer husband says

-

Indian tennis star Sania Mirza and her Pakistani cricketer husband Shoaib Malik had a baby boy yesterday.

Mirza delivered the child, their first, early in the morning in Hyderabad.

“Excited to announce: Its a boy, and my girl is doing great and keeping strong as usual #Alhumdulilah. Thank you for the wishes and Duas, we are humbled #BabyMirzaMalik,” Malik tweeted.

Mirza married Malik in a traditional Hyderabadi Muslim wedding ceremony on April 12, 2010.

Talking to tabloid! in July, the tennis player said she didn’t see pregnancy as a hurdle in her career.

“I wanted to have a family only when I was ready. I find pregnancy empowering because what we are doing and creating as women, nobody in this world can do. When I look at myself, I feel that pregnancy should in no way hold you back. It’s unfair to look at pregnancy as a drawback for your career or your life. My life has to still keep moving forward because that is the way... Obviously parenting is important,” she said. —
