Users online commented on the horror genre and why it continues to be popular
@THR:
#HalloweenMovie — a direct sequel to the 1978 classic slasher hit — launched with a terrifying $7.7 million [Dh28.28m].
@rubybeemagic:
Is it me or is the horror genre becoming more popular? Is our reality making horror easier to watch?
@EJKhryst:
Horror has and will always be “alive and well.” There is no comeback for the genre. Just because there is a popular film or show does not mean the genre is “saved”. There are amazing horror pieces every year ...
@Heater_Nate:
I don’t think there is a cinematic genre that I disagree with popular opinion more than ‘horror’. Haunting of Hill House is a well-made series, but its over-reliance on jump scares and uneven atmosphere keep it from truly being a lingering scary experience.
@KCBD11:
There are many reasons horror is a popular genre for filmmakers: the movies usually don’t cost much to make, they appeal to broad sections of theatre-going audiences and they promise huge returns.
