Pakistani woman wins $1m in DDF Diwali draw

Indian consul-general attends reception

APakistani woman in Dubai became the winner of a special Diwali draw of Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionair­e yesterday.

Fehmida Tanveer’s ticket was picked by top officials of Dubai Duty Free (DDF) who were joined by the Consul General of India in Dubai Vipul, special invitee at the event featuring Diwali festivitie­s and Indian cultural programmes.

Vipul attended the special reception led by Colm McLoughlin, Executive Vice-Chairman and CEO of DDF, Ramesh Cidambi, CEO of DDF and Salah Tahlak, Executive Vice- President – Corporate Services, DDF.

Fehmida Tanveeer, a Dubai resident for 10 years, won $1 million (Dh3.67 million) in Series number 285 with ticket number 0373.

She and her husband had bought a total of 18 tickets online for this series.

“Thank God for this wonderful news! It’s our first time to win this big and this will definitely go a long way,” she was quoted as saying in a press release.

In the Finest Surprise draw Faisal Salem Al Masoud, a Kuwaiti national, won a Bentley Bentayga car in Series 1701 with ticket number 1656. Andrew Boxall, an Australian national won an Indian Scouts motorbike in Series 350 with ticket number 0160. A traditiona­l Indian dance (Kathak) was performed by troupe Gurukul Dubai, the release added.
