Amagistrate in Rawalpindi has ordered the judicial remand of a doctor allegedly involved in torturing an 11year he employed as a domestic worker.

The doctor’s wife, a serving Pakistan army officer, is also facing the same charges. However, she is being investigated by army authorities.

On Tuesday, investigation officer Mohammad Arshad, a sub-inspector of the Airport Police Station, where a case has been registered against the couple, presented the accused doctor before Magistrate Zaib Shehzad Chaudhry.

Upon being asked by the judge if police required any further information from the accused, the officer said he had completed investigations and no further information was required. The court then sent the doctor to Adiala Jail on judicial remand.

Belt, wiper and knife

According to police sources, earlier in the day a belt, wiper and kitchen knife were recovered from the house where Kinza used to work as a domestic servant.

In her statement she told investigators the couple, particularly the woman, used to assault her with belts and sticks, which resulted in injuries.

An official of the Child Protection Bureau said the child’s medical and X-ray reports had confirmed she was tortured by the couple.

Meanwhile, army authorities also interviewed Kinza and asked her various questions regarding how she was treated by her employers and about the couple’s overall attitude towards her.

Upon a request by army authorities, the Child Protection Bureau had given access to their representative for a oneon-one meeting with Kinza.

Meanwhile, officials from the GHQ (army headquarters) said they had also questioned the woman officer, a major in the Signals division, and a report in this regard will be made public very soon.
