Lalu’s woes pile up as son seeks divorce
Jailed RJD leader only came to know through media about his son’s petition
Incarcerated Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president Lalu Prasad is reportedly under severe strain after his elder son Tej Pratap Yadav filed a petition in the court last week seeking divorce from his wife of six months.
Lalu is serving jail sentences in three separate fodder scam cases, but is currently admitted at a government hospital in Ranchi for treatment of various ailments.
Doctors treating the RJD leader said Lalu is finding it hard to keep calm and is suffering from sleeplessness, which could badly affect his health.
“He keeps awake until late night these days. He is awake whenever hospital staff visit his ward at night,” hospital sources said.
Hospital authorities said they were aware about the problems the RJD chief had been facing.
“Lalu Prasad has been under severe stress but we are not giving him medicines for it. We are trying to overcome his problem through counselling in the first place. We will provide him medicines only when the counselling fails to work,” Dr D.K. Jha, who is treating Lalu told journalists.
Jha said the continuing stress had broken Lalu’s daily routine. “Owing to stress, he is waking up late in the morning, thus delaying his breakfast and lunch,” Jha added. The RJD president is currently suffering from 14-15 types of ailments and is currently being administered heavy doses of insulin.
Fresh tension gripped Lalu shortly after he came to know through the media that his son has filed divorce petition against his newly-wed wife but it multiplied further when his efforts to change his son’s mind fell flat.
