Rabri Devi skips festival over son’s divorce

-

Former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi, upset over her son Tej Pratap’s impending divorce from his wife of six months, will not celebrate Chhath Puja this year.

Pratap has said he won’t go back home unless his parents supported his decision,

“Rabri Devi will not celebrate Chhath this year, because the family is worried about Tej Pratap’s absence from Patna for the last one week,” Bhola Yadav, a Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) legislator considered close to party chief Lalu Prasad’s family, said yesterday.

Camping in Haridwar

According to him, the family has been trying hard to persuade Tej Pratap to return home, but to no avail.

RJD leaders said that Tej Pratap was camping in Haridwar, after visiting Varanasi a few days ago.

A former Health Minister in the Bihar government, Tej Pratap met his jailed father Lalu Prasad in Ranchi last week, and discussed his decision to divorce his wife Aishwarya Rai.

Tej Pratap married Aishwarya, the daughter of RJD legislator and former Minister Chandrika Rai and granddaughter of former Bihar Chief Minister Daroga Rai, on May 12 in Patna.
