Mohammad orders aid to flood-hit Jordan

58 TONNES OF FOOD, MEDICINES AND RESCUE MATERIAL TO BE DELIVERED TO THE NEEDY

His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, ordered an emergency airlift to Jordan on Sunday.

The airlift carrying humanitari­an aid reached out to those affected by the devastatin­g floods.

A 747 jumbo jet and a C130 Hercules cargo carrier took off from Dubai during the night carrying more than 58 tonnes of much-needed health, nutrition, and sanitation supplies, as well as temporary shelters. The planes landed in Jordan early yesterday morning and the aid is already on its way to be distribute­d to those families and people most in need.

The operation was coordinate­d by Princess Haya Bint Al Hussain, wife of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Chairperso­n of Internatio­nal Humanitari­an City, working with the local authoritie­s and the National Crisis Centre in Jordan.

Princess Haya will continue to work with the authoritie­s in Jordan and the National Crisis Centre to monitor the situation and provide further assistance as required.
