Sharjah Police launch investigation into circumstances surrounding the tragedy
A four-year-old Emirati boy drowned in the swimming pool of his school in Sharjah yesterday. During a swimming class at Australian International School, the trainers noticed the child unconscious in the pool. The child was taken to Al Qassimi hospital where the medical staff attempted to resuscitate him but failed.
Afour-year-old Emirati boy drowned in the swimming pool of his school in Sharjah yesterday morning, police said.
The fatal drowning happened at the Australian International School, off Maliha-Kalba Road in Sharjah. The Sharjah Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
The school will remain closed today and reopen on Monday, a circular issued to parents said.
During swimming class, the trainers noticed the child in an
unconscious state in the pool and rushed him to a nearby hospital. The Emirati child, identified as K.A.A., was taken to Al Qassimi hospital, where the medical staff attempted to resuscitate him but failed.
The young kindergarten student’s tragic death has left the school staff and students devastated. “Our heartfelt condolences go to the pupil’s family,”
a member of the school administration told Gulf News.
The school is monitored with a CCTV system and more than 45 teachers were on duty that day. The school has agreed to cooperate with the Sharjah Police in their investigation.
A relative of the deceased child said he had two other siblings in the school. He was the youngest in his family.
