Man acquitted of groping sleeping woman

Aworker has been cleared of being drunk and groping a woman as she slept. In August, a Filipina waitress, who shared a bedroom with four women at their labour accommodation, was asleep when she woke up suddenly to realise that someone was groping her.

The waitress saw her Pakistani co-worker, 26, hurrying out of the room. She woke up her roommates before calling the police.

Citing lack of corroborated evidence, Dubai Court of First Instance acquitted the man. The ruling remains subject to appeal. (Staff Report)
