Power thefts cause Rs60b in losses

secretary energy and convener of the Provincial Task Force, Mohammad Amir Jan, yesterday said the national exchequer had suffered losses of Rs60 billion (Dh1.6 billion) due to the theft of power.

Addressing a press conference here at Commissioner office, he said under the directives of Prime Minister Imran Khan drastic measures were being taken to combat electricity theft.

He said 2,500 raids were conducted and 500 FIRs registered across the province.

He said coordinated efforts would be made for more operations.
