Tejashwi charges Bihar leader with snooping

RJD lawmaker says Nitish Kumar ‘spying’ on his activities

- BY LATA RANI Correspondent

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) lawmaker and Bihar opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav yesterday charged Chief Minister Nitish Kumar with spying on his “private and political activities” by installing high-resolution CCTV cameras.

As per the report, the cameras were installed around a fortnight ago while the people were busy making preparations for Diwali festival.

Tejashwi who served as the deputy chief minister in previous Grand Alliance government headed by the same Kumar before he switched over to the opposition National Democratic Alliance (NDA) last year was surprised when someone drew his attention towards high resolution HD CCTV cameras installed on the roof of the chief minister’s residence with the help of a pipe. The cameras have been fitted in such a way that the entire residence of the Bihar opposition leader, right form his bedroom and kitchen to his party office, comes under its purview.

Tejashwi said he would have no problem if they had been installed right at the main gate of the chief minister’s official residence but their present location violates the right to his privacy which is not fair.

“Bihar govt must tighten the security whenever required for the CM who already has Z+ category and even resides in high security zone, but is it preferable to install high-resolution HD CCTV cameras facing, snooping and interfering the privacy of neighbours?” asked Tejashwi on Thursday.

He questioned why officials handling the security of the chief minister had installed cameras facing his residence located close to the CM’s residence and not other areas, even though his residence was surrounded by roads from three sides.
