537,000 business licences issued by October-end

total of 537,000 business activity licences were issued by the end of October, 1 per cent up from August, according to Ministry of Economy statistics.

The growth reflects the economic uplift this year. Dubai and Sharjah accounted for 85.5 per cent of the total licences issued, with Dubai issuing 251,629 and Sharjah 80,754.

In Abu Dhabi,f 124,659 licences were issued by the Department of Economic Development, 78,518 of which were for individual institutions. (WAM)
