India, Soviet Union agree to boost ties
1988 - Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev and Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi ended a weekend summit by finalising the largest-ever agreements for Indo-Soviet cooperation in the field of space, technology, science, culture and power generation. Moscow granted some $3.6 billion (Dh13.2 billion) worth of credit for various mammoth capital works projects, among them the sale of two nuclear power plants.
