TDP ‘to turn CM’s home into hospital’

Pragati Bhavan was built next to Telangana CM’s old residence in Begumpet area

The opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has promised that, if elected to power, it will convert the official residence of the Telangana chief minister, “Pragati Bhavan”, into a government hospital. The party has also promised to increase the health budget to Rs50 billion (Dh2.58 billion).

This was one of the several promises made in the manifesto released by Telangana Telugu Desam party president L. Ramana yesterday in Hyderabad.

Pragati Bhavan was built next to the old CM’s Residence in Begumpet area at a cost of Rs380 million.

KCR had opted for the new official residence-cum-camp office spread over 3.64 hectares as he believed that old residence next door was inauspicio­us.

When he moved into this state of the art complex on November 23, 2016 the building built in Palladian style had hit the headlines for its various features including the bullet proof windows of its toilets.

The party has also promised to provide 100,000 jobs in the first year of its rule, Rs3,000 unemployme­nt allowance to all the unemployed graduates, and free laptops to students at colleges and universiti­es in the state.
