Abu Dhabi Police say the story about woman killing, chopping and cooking lover is fake

The Abu Dhabi Police has denied a recent report alleging that a Moroccan woman had killed her lover and chopped his body into pieces and cooked it, calling the story fake news.

In an official statement released yesterday, the Abu Dhabi Police said the false story was started through social media before it was picked up by several news media outlets.

According to the Abu Dhabi Police a crime did indeed occur in Al Ain, but the incident was not what was being falsely spread through social media.

The Abu Dhabi Police urged the public and media to be aware of false stories created on social media and to always verify the original source.

Penalties

The Abu Dhabi Police also highlighted that spreading fake news that creates a negative impact on society can be punished by law, and warned the public against spreading stories that are false.

It was earlier reported that the woman had butchered her lover after he told her that he would marry his cousin, who is also from Morocco.
