Revathy takes on Mohanlal in tweet
The South Indian actress called out the actor for being insensitive to the #MeToo movement
South Indian star and Women In Cinema Collective (WCC) member Revathy slammed Mohanlal yesterday for his flippant remarks made during his visit to Dubai where he labelled the #MeToo movement a ‘fad’.
Without naming him, the Kilukkam star questioned the lack of sensitivity. In an interview with tabloid! earlier, Mohanlal — who is the president of the Association Of Movie Artists (Amma) — expressed his views on the #MeToo movement, claiming it has become a fad and that even men should begin their own #MeToo movement as a snub of sorts.
Amma has been under fire over its soft stance on actor Dileep, who is accused in an ongoing sexual assault case. Mohanlal’s display of toxic male privilege and his overt insensitivity was noted and flagged up by his colleagues.
“#MeToo movement a ‘FAD’ says a Renowned Mohanlal.
ACTOR. How do we bring some degree of sensitivity in such people? Like Anjali Menon says, the people who have just arrived from Mars have no clue what it means to get abused, what it takes to call out and how this can bring about change!!!,” tweeted Revathy.
Singer Srinivas and activist Sandhya Menon also criticised Mohanlal’s response to #MeToo.
