Team Lycans from Delhi Private School (DPS) Dubai got a near perfect score to outsmart 12 other teams participating in the finals of the fifth annual Business Cup Challenge yesterday.

Organised by Curtin University Dubai, the inter-school competition brings together the brightest students and finest business ideas from schools across the UAE.

“Lycans scored a near perfect 65 out of 70. They almost exactly got the best solution to the case, only falling short in not carrying the idea to all educational data on a worldwide basis. They successfully addressed the financial and environmental aspects of the case and their presentation and the way they presented were the best of the day,” said Daniel Adkins CEO, Curtin University Dubai’s Academic Partner Transnational Academic Group Middle East.

Adkins was also the head of the panel of three judges that scored the performances of more than 750 students from 117 teams over four weeks. The grand finale was held yesterday at Emirates Institute for Banking and Financial Studies.

The winning team was led by Aarushi Baser. Team member included Neha Rose Roy, Smiti Sudhir Nayak, Nikita Sasi, Vidushi Tiwari, Priya Chawla and Katelyn Lucy Lobo.

The competition offered high school students opportunities to solve actual business problems, helping them acquire necessary business skills early in life. This year the theme was the use of blockchain in offering business solutions.

The challenge, sponsored by Gulf News, required students to review real-world business cases, analyse business situations and present a case to an academic and professional panel.
